You can now share any file-type with WhatsApp in their latest android update. Bluetooth is the old way to share files.
An article by PAUL SAWERS describes how to use the app.
WhatsApp now lets you share any file type with other users
The Facebook-owned messaging giant first debuted file-sharing early last year, though it was restricted to PDF and text-focused files, such as .doc, .txt, .csv, and .xls. Last month, however, some users reported seeing an update within the app that allowed them to share any file stored on their device, whether on Android, iOS, or the web.
This is a good development of the app. I will surely try it.
I use Shareit to share files on my phone.
In this article by NAPIER LOPEZ describes its limitation. If you read at the bottom of the article you will see that there is a limit of 100MB.
WhatsApp tests letting you share any file type
You can share a lot of things on WhatsApp: images, videos, audio, locations, and documents. But for some reason, the company has long limited you to just a few specific file types, like PDFs, Word documents, speadsheets, and slides. If you tried to share anything else, the files would be greyed out.
According to the article, maybe the limitation is placed to protect their servers from overuse.
It is also limited to a number of users right now. Hopefully, we can use it earlier.
